This artwork was selected as a finalist in the John Villiers Outback Art Prize – https://www.facebook.com/waltzingmatildacentre
The painting is from a photo taken by Tim Japangnardi Kling’s and is his backyard in Yuendumu. Tim is the General Manager at PAW (Pintubi, Anmatjere and Warlpiri) Media and Communications, Yuendumu. Japangnardi – a skin name Tim has been honoured with by the local people who have accepted him as family. Tim named his photo “8 minutes between wet and dry”.
Through this artwork, I hope to engage the viewer to imagine the deep russet-red soil echoed in the sun’s fading flow and feel the peaceful stillness that envelops the landscape – a timeless invitation to sense the heartbeat of Australia’s outback.
